Our Children's Ministry
The Children's Ministry at First Baptist Church of Bethany exists to awaken a passion in children for the glory of God by leading them to Celebrate Christ by making His disciples everywhere. We intentionally train children in the faith by immersing them in the word of God, teaching them how to pray, and guiding them in worship. Our greatest desire is that they will accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and carry His light first into Bethany Missouri and then into the rest of the world. Psalm 22:30-31 reads, "Future generations will also serve Him. Our children will hear about the wonders of the Lord. His righteous acts will be told to those yet unborn. They will hear about everything He has done.” Our children are the future generation and they will hear about all that God has done at First Baptist Church of Bethany. We accomplish this with music and drama, lock-ins, camps, kids’ night, family outings, choirs, special seasonal events, and lots of fun! Proverbs 22:6 states, "Train up the child and the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." Below is a list of our various disciplship programs.
At First Baptist Church of Bethany we teach fun and interactive Sunday School lessons to the children. Often on Sunday mornings your children will create Bible crafts, participate in Christian activities, learn Bible stories, join or watch skits, play games, sing songs, and much more. Your child will have a wonderful time discovering the Lord in a safe and secure environment. Sunday School is held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Sunday Mornings. If you have any questions don't hesitate to call us. So why not jump in and join us for Sunday School?
So AWANA...what does it stand for and what is it? AWANA means Approved Workers Are Not Ashamed. 2 Timothy 2:15 reads, "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." At AWANA are sole focus is to instruct the children in the ways of the Lord in a safe and secure environment. We accomplish this primarily by assisting Children in memorizing key scriptures from the Bible that will transform their lives. Everytime we gather the children learn a Bible lesson, memorize scripture, and participate in a fun activity. AWANA is held on Wednesday nights from 6:30p.m. to 8:00p.m. and breaks down into three sections. 1.) The Preschool age which is known as Cubbies, 2.) Kindergarten through 2nd grade which is known as Sparks, and 3.) 3rd grade through 6th grade known as T&T (Truth And Training).
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is our flagship children's church event of the summer, uniquely inviting and exciting to everyone involved. This event takes place for one week in the summer and concludes with an exciting finish. At the close the children demonstrate to their families what all they have learned throughout the week in an exciting and engaging way. VBS includes schedules that help both preschoolers and older children rotate through varied learning experiences with a variety of Christian leaders. The primary elements of Vacation Bible School are Bible study, worship, crafts, music, missions, recreation, and snacks. Each year we introduce a new theme to the children. Be sure to check in each year as our lessons are always different.
Every year our children at First Baptist Church of Bethany are given the opportunity to escape the busy world around them and jump into one fantastic week of fun and Bible learning. Summer Camp provides a place of solitude whereby the children may leave the distractions of the world and meet with God—namely through His Word, through His people, and through His creation. Call the church office and find out when and where the camp is scheduled for this upcoming year.
